Medan Career Expo 2026 Emerges as a Concrete Solution for Professional Labor Absorption in North Sumatra
Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) in collaboration with the Medan City Manpower Office successfully held the Medan Career Expo 2026 at the UNPRI Main Hall, Jalan Sampul No. 3, Medan, on Tuesday (10/2/2026). This city-scale job fair proceeded smoothly with great enthusiasm, attended by university leaders and Medan City government officials.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Medan, Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas, along with UNPRI's Rectorate members including Vice Rector I Dr. Abdi Dharma, Vice Rector II Prof. Dr. Ermi Girsang, Vice Rector III Dr. Refi Ikhtiari, and Vice Rector IV Dr. Ali Napiah Nasution, as well as the entire dekanat. Rahmat Syahputra, Expert Staff of Medan City, and the Head of Medan Petisah District were also present to provide full support.
Medan Career Expo 2026 serves as a concrete answer to the employment challenges frequently discussed in Medan. Many people, especially students and graduates, face the big question after finishing their studies: where to go after graduation? Addressing this concern, UNPRI together with the Manpower Office and the Medan City Government took proactive steps by providing a direct meeting space between job seekers and the industrial world.
"There are 124 companies present today with 5,514 vacancies available to the public. This is a significant opportunity that must be utilized to the fullest," stated Mayor Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas during his speech.
Mayor Rico Waas also appreciated the active role of UNPRI graduates in Medan. "We are proud of the spirit and competence shown by the UNPRI alumni across various sectors of this city's life," he emphasized.
Furthermore, the Mayor stressed that the government must not stand by in the face of labor dynamics. "The government must be proactive. We cannot just wait; we must keep moving to create an ecosystem that connects top talent with the professional world. The Medan City Government is fully committed to supporting activities like this. Success for all of us—the Manpower Office, UNPRI, and the people of Medan present today," he concluded.
Following his remarks, Mayor Rico Tri Putra Bayu Waas, accompanied by UNPRI leaders and Manpower Office representatives, conducted a direct inspection of the exhibition area, witnessing the enthusiasm of job seekers crowding the participant company booths.
The Mayor emphasized that the government must remain proactive in creating ecosystems that connect top talent with the world of work.
