UNPRI Enhances the Competence of Family Medicine Specialists Through the National Diabetes Educator Training Program
UNPRI Family Medicine Specialist Program (SPKKLP) Strengthens Its Commitment to Improving the Quality of Education and Primary Healthcare Services
UNPRI, Medan – Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) continues to demonstrate its commitment as a university consistent in producing professional and globally competitive healthcare workers.
Through the Specialist Education Program in Primary Care Family Medicine (SPKKLP), UNPRI participated in the National Basic Level Diabetes Educator Training activity, held online on October 22, 2025, followed by an offline session from October 24 to 26, 2025.
The activity was attended by participants from the UNPRI Primary Care Family Medicine SPKKLP together with the faculty leadership, including the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences (FKKGIK) and the Head of the SPKKLP Study Program. The active involvement of all academic elements is clear evidence that UNPRI not only focuses on theoretical aspects but also emphasizes the strengthening of practical competencies aligned with the needs of public healthcare services.
This training aims to equip family doctors with the ability to provide effective education to patients, particularly regarding the management of chronic diseases such as Diabetes Mellitus (DM). Diabetes is one of the largest public health challenges in Indonesia, requiring a comprehensive approach based on education, prevention, and continuous support. Through this activity, participants gained a deep understanding of communication strategies, clinical management, medical nutrition management, and skills in providing education focused on patient and family empowerment.
The activity also served as an important moment for UNPRI to strengthen its academic role in supporting national health policies, especially in the primary care sector. By increasing the capacity of family doctors, healthcare services at the community level are expected to run more optimally, sustainably, and be oriented towards improving patients' quality of life.
More than just training, this activity is a tangible form of synergy between the academic world and field practice. UNPRI, through the SPKKLP Study Program, plays an active role in building a culture of health education based on empathy, professionalism, and social responsibility.
